Expert Opinion
For years, Ross has provided expert opinion on many a difficult insurance case that has been before the courts, in the many stages of litigation, before a mediator or being weighed by arbitrators. On occasion Ross will step into the roles of arbitrator or mediator. The dispute mediation or arbitration has been between any combination of producers, insurers, reinsurers and retrocessionaires. The written "letters of opinion" to counsel have provided most often for a favourable resolution. The extensive knowledge of the world of risk management and reinsurance, combined with the prominent role played in many insurers’ standards of business practice, contribute to a most advantageous expert opinion.
This is a very confidential service offered to parties seriously wanting to avoid full litigation and a public laundering of their positions.
Spoken Word Appearances
For years, since Ross first edited and wrote for Life Office Management Association publications and then the historic Canadian Journal of Life Insurance, the unique style of opinionated and straight to the point writing has garnered continued exposure as a speaker in 39 countries.
The topics range through management, reinsurance, underwriting, technology and general insurance insight. His articles were most recently found in his section of the "Marketing Options" web site and previously the magazine under the banner "Off the Wall". He continues to write and deliver speeches.
Each of his contributions takes a unique view of the issue and his opinions come with insider industry anecdotes and humorous meanderings.
Insurance Industry Consulting
Since the very first assignment to help construct a new insurance entity in the Caribbean in 1972 Ross has contributed advice, design and implementation strategy and tactics to companies around the world. Although a great deal of this was via his reinsurance employers there were independent services rendered with his employers’ blessings. Currently Ross is much freer to play a broader role in all facets of insurance industry analysis and construction of solutions either independently or through his affiliation with LOGIQ3.
Navigating the large and/or problem application through the insurance company can at times prove most onerous to even the most skilled of insurance salespeople. Ross can help you package and sell the file to the insurance company underwriter in a fashion that guarantees the quagmire of insurance and reinsurance underwriting encumbrances are minimized.
An additional service that has limited availability is the service of confidential mentoring to insurance executives who seek a second opinion on their strategy, tactics or personnel issues. Given the highly one on one relationship of these assignments this service is limited. This role is extremely confidential, sincere and supportive of the executive in our industry. Satisfaction and long term relationships are foremost in this service.
Lastly Ross has provided extensive opinion and analysis of the impact on all facets of the industry and consumers for the Competition Bureau of Canada during the past few years of consolidation.
Risk Management and Operational Reviews
Since an accidental opportunity arose in 1985 to review the operations of a major company from "sale to claim" Ross has been the leader of teams used around the world to holistically assess a company’s practices in relation to the best in the world. As a reinsurer for decades Ross has witnessed firsthand the best and worst of practices around the world. This confidential service has been employed by 21 different companies in 8 countries over the past 10 years. It is a service that capitalizes on the skill of listening and uncovering the real strengths of a company’s staff resource. Much of this work in the future will fall under the auspices of LOGIQ3 where and when a team approach is required since multiple disciplines need to be part of the modern in depth review.
Ross has a very strong relationship with RGA Technology Partners and he (or his team) can add great value when a company wants to maximize the software implementation by insuring the operation has its “kinks” taken out prior to overlaying the software solution.
